🏡 WHAT WE’RE TRYING TO DO IN GNAT COUNTRY
We want to take a minute and explain what we're trying to build here, because it's really pretty simple.
We're not trying to replace anybody.
South Georgia is blessed with some mighty good people who spend their Friday nights covering our high school teams — radio crews, broadcasters, newspaper reporters, photographers, school media folks, livestream crews, independent sports pages and plenty of others who put in the time week after week.
We want to help people find them.
When somebody is doing quality work covering a team or a game, we want to point down the road and say, "Hey, y'all need to check out what they're doing."
That's really the heart of Gnat Country.
Think of us as sitting on The Front Porch on a Friday night with a bunch of friends.
Somebody might holler, "You ought to hear this radio crew calling the game!"
Somebody else might say, "Look at these pictures somebody just posted from over in Fitzgerald."
Another friend might tell us about a great game happening down around Thomasville, Valdosta, Tifton, Albany, Waycross or somewhere else across Gnat Country.
And naturally, we'll probably argue a little about football. It wouldn't be much of a South Georgia front porch if we didn't. 😂
But through it all, we want to give credit where credit is due and shine a little more light on the people who are already doing good work.
Our Discord will be part of that Front Porch. Everybody is welcome to pull up a chair — fans, broadcasters, reporters, photographers, coaches, school-media folks and anyone else who enjoys following what's happening around South Georgia.
If you're covering a game, tell us about it.
If you've written a good story, share it.
If you're broadcasting a game, let folks know where they can listen.
If you've found somebody doing outstanding work, brag on them.
We're not looking to be the biggest voice in the room.
We'd rather help everybody hear all the good voices that are already out there.
That's our goal. That's The Front Porch.
